What is an ACO?
Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) are groups of doctors, hospitals, and/or other health care providers that voluntarily come together to work collaboratively with the goal of providing better care at lower costs. ACO participants also agree to take on accountability for the total costs and quality of care for their patients. By taking on that accountability, providers are motivated to ensure patients have timely access to care, receive the right care in the right setting, and overall work to keep patients healthy, thereby reducing their costs and improving outcomes.

Who We Are
The National Association of ACOs (NAACOS) represents more than 8 million beneficiary lives through Medicare’s population health-focused payment and delivery models. NAACOS is a member-led and member-owned nonprofit of more than 400 ACOs in Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance working on behalf of health systems and physician provider organizations across the nation to improve quality of care for patients and reduce health care cost.
