ACO REACH Participants Improve Care Delivery, Generate Billions of Dollars in Savings
Statement from Emily Brower, president and chief executive officer, the National Association of ACOs
WASHINGTON (July 9, 2026) – The National Association of ACOs (NAACOS) congratulates the 115 accountable care organizations (ACO) that participated in ACO REACH for their strong performance in 2024. The Financial and Quality Results for Performance Year 2024, released today by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), demonstrate the success and impact of the model’s innovative design and focus on high-needs populations. We look forward to seeing these features scale through the upcoming LEAD model.
ACOs generated $2.5 billion in gross savings, with $988.3 million returned directly to CMS, for the care of 2.5 million seniors. Additionally, the vast majority of participants maintained the delivery of high-quality care, achieving an average total quality score of 80.4% across the 101 Standard and New Entrant ACOs, and 86.2% across the 14 High Needs Population ACOs.
Across the ACO REACH model and the Medicare Shared Savings Program, ACOs generated more than $9 billion in savings in Performance Year 2024, while improving care and health outcomes of seniors.
NAACOS and its members are excited to partner with CMS to continue to build on this success by scaling innovation and advancing the long-term sustainability of accountable care models.
