Policy & Advocacy

Advocacy is a core component of the NAACOS mission, and our policy positions are aimed at helping Medicare ACOs achieve the long-term sustainability necessary to enhance care coordination for Medicare beneficiaries, reduce healthcare costs, and improve quality in the Medicare program. To ensure the stability and success of the ACO model, we regularly advocate to members of Congress and policymakers in the Executive branch to modify and create new ACO policies.

The NAACOS staff works closely with our Board of Directors and Policy Committee to develop and execute our advocacy strategy. Members also provide vital feedback to NAACOS on a variety of issues related to the accountable care model, including the rules for the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP), the role ACOs play in Medicare payment reform, and on how to the enhance the role of population health management in the healthcare industry.

Keeping members apprised of government developments and policy changes, which we do through direct email communication and our newsletter, is another key component of our advocacy focus. Further, we create in-depth resources to educate members on complex policies and program requirements affecting ACOs. These updates and resources can be found on our advocacy pages:
