ACOs evaluate and select specific models and tracks, assignment methodology is an important consideration. There are pros and cons to retrospective and prospective assignment, which are both used in the Medicare ACO program depending on the specific ACO Model or track. In response to ACO concerns about whether a potential bias exists which would affect an ACO's overall ability to achieve shared savings as a result of their assignment methodology, NAACOS conducted an in-depth evaluation of retrospective and prospective assignment. This is the first study to simulate the prospectively and retrospectively assigned beneficiary populations for actual ACOs. During this webinar, speakers will review the study's results and ACO presenters will share their lessons learned about maximizing performance under their specific assignment methodology.
